Come out and watch Brady Scott live, as he creates the first ever Sand Creek Summer Daze Festival Composition! Brady will be painting a 4'x8' wooden portrait representing Sand Creek and the festival.
Brady has created several well-known public art murals in Hutchinson, including the Hutchinson Women's Center Lobby and the Boys and Girls Club Shadduck Park Playground. He has painted murals for the Kansas City Masterpiece Mural Festival, Tulsa Habit Mural Festival, Wichita's Avenue Art Days & The Plaza Walls Mural Expo in Oklahoma City.
Brady is a father, artist and musician living and creating in the beautiful rolling hills of central Kansas. Working mainly in professional grade spray paint and acrylic, he implements a variety of techniques to create large scale murals, one-of-a-kind illustrations and intimate canvass paintings. With a unique, contemporary style, he draws inspiration from people, animals, history and the timeless prairie landscape.
Photographers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels are invited to enter their best, single image of Sand Creek for a chance to win notoriety and prizes in the initial Sand Creek Summer Daze - Diggin’ the Artz Photography Contest.
How to Enter
Please submit one digital copy of your entry and 1 - 8x10 printed copy (without frame)
These can be mailed to Sand Creek Festival, INC PO Box 915, Newton, KS 67114 or brought to B&B Lumber 1601 W 1st St Newton, KS 67114
The photo release form must be downloaded, completed and turned in with the digital copy and 8x10 photograph.
1st and 2nd place will be awarded in each of the three divisions Judges will select from the pieces submitted
Deadlines & Dates
August 1th – All digital and 8x10 photographs must be turned in
August 11th – The Final 5 in each category will be decided upon on & announced via social media and the website
August 18th (Day of Festival Event) – The Final 5 in each category will be placed for festival viewing in the Diggin’ the Artz event tent
August 18th (Day of Festival Event) – 3:30 pm – Winners will be announced & awarded on stage at the Diggin’ the Artz tent
Judges with a background in photography will be selected by the sponsors. The judges will select the show pieces and the award-winning photographs. When selecting show pieces, judges will consider their composition, subject matter, print quality (focus, clarity, and absence or presence of flaws), and the degree of professionalism in which each piece is presented. All decisions of the judges are final.
Darrin Hackney is a local professional photographer who was born and raised here in Newton. He is an Emporia State alumnus and currently lives and works in Wichita.

Black & White Digital:
In camera setting or post production accepted, not to include sepia tone or monochromatic prints
All photos accepted including converted images to sepia or other tones
Altered with Photoshop or other editing or design software
