Join the Sand Creek Summer Daze Festival and sample some brilliant competition BBQ, dine and eat on scrumptious grub from local BBQ vendors, partake in some of the best craft beers in the area & listen to live music! The Saucy & Glazed BBQ Competition & Craft Beer-fest and the Hard Redz Brew-off are joining forces to offer you a great afternoon of food, beer, wine and live music.
* Come watch a Traeger representative demonstrate pellet BBQ-ing at its finest with a variety of different foods from your local Gillipie Meats and Meridian Grocery of Newton.
* Join in a contest to win a Traeger Bronson grill to be given away at the event! Browse Trager grills for discounted prices, along with a variety of pellets, shakes, sauces and Traeger grill add ons.
* And listen to the beer drinking sounds of the Meridian Shriners Polka Band and the acoustic rock sounds of Acrosstic!!

For those that love to back yard BBQ, it is easy to enter a team and compete in this KCBS sanctioned competition with $3700 dollars in prize money to be won. This is an AMATEUR ONLY competition developed so that every home griller can participate! Each team that enters receives a cooler and bag of charcoal as a thank you from the Sand Creek Summer Daze Festival!

The Hard Redz Summer Brew-off is a 21+ Event
VIP Online Ticket sales can be picked up at WILL CALL at the North Gate
General Admission tickets must be purchased at the button gate (north side) of the festival grounds. CASH ONLY
VIP ticket buyers must be 21 or over to participate
General Admission ticket buyers may be under 21 but not eligible for alcoholic beverages
ID’s will be checked at entry gate AFTER your ticket is purchased. DO NOT buy a VIP ticket if you are under 21. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
Wrist bands will be placed on EVERY ticket holder’s wrists upon arrival at entry gate. Wrist bands must be worn securely and at all times and are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and non-replaceable. Do not remove, stretch or tamper with your wrist band or immediate removal from the event will be initiated.
Plain cloths security will be roaming festival grounds checking wristbands. Please make this a fun experience for everyone.

The Saucy & Glazed BBQ Competition is a KCBS sanctioned event held in conjunction with the Dazed & Confuzed Home Brewing Competition. As a KCBS-sanctioned BackYard BBQ, Saucy & Glazed is just for backyard enthusiasts. It is closed to the pros, so don’t worry about the big rigs from Texas showing up!
The public tastings for the People’s Choice award starts at 2pm. The public will taste chicken and beans for the winner of this category.
This event will be held in conjunction with the Dazed & Confuzed Home Brew Competition. A $20 (15 w/button) fee will get you your Tasting Kit. The kit includes, one plate & fork, tokens for voting on best chicken, best beans & best home brew! Only paid festival goers will be allowed in the gates, given tasting kits and be allowed to be given samples of product..

1:30–2:30 – Teams prepare for People’s Choice
2:30–4:00 – People’s Choice judging begins – Chicken Thighs (sponsored) / Beans
1:30–4:00 – Results tabulated by judges
4:30 PM – Awards ceremony (people’s choice and BBQ competition)
5:00 PM – Teams may pack up and leave
People’s Choice Competition — MANDATORY
A people’s choice competition will be held alongside the Dazed and Confused Home Brew-off on Sunday afternoon between 2:00 - 5:00 PM. Share your cooking with festival-goers for a fun Sunday afternoon celebration. $20 tasting kits ($15 with festival button) will allow participation in both the Homebrew and BBQ people’s choice events.
All cooking teams are required to participate in the People’s Choice. Teams who don’t participate will be ineligible for Backyard BBQ prizes.
Teams will serve the public from their team location and may decorate however they want. Teams are encouraged to get creative with decorating their site and serving area and promote their entries to enhance the festival atmosphere. Show team spirit!!
Teams are required to cook and provide samples for at least 400 people. Samples may be approximately 1 oz. each. Teams do not have to provide their own meat for People’s Choice. A sponsor will provide 26 lbs of chicken thighs to each team, for pickup at check in time. Teams may prepare and cook the meat however they want, following KCBS rules.
Teams may prepare beans on-site, or in advance, as long as they are stored according to KCBS rules. Provide enough for at least 400 x 1 oz. samples. Entries must contain beans; any other ingredients and method of cooking it at the discretion of the cooks.
This contest will follow official Kansas City BBQ Society rules for BackYard BBQ.
