CENTRAL KANSAS COMMUNITEEZ
schedule
Saturday, July 8
10:00 – 4:30
Central Kansas has many hidden gems throughout the many historic towns that dot the map. You don’t have to go far to find something to find fun, yummy, interesting or educational. We invite you to visit with representatives from each town to see what may tickle your fancy whether that be new attractions, food venues or businesses.
Newton
When you come to Newton, you will quickly find that we are a small town with a big heart. With approximately 18,877 residents, Newton has a lot to offer to someone who is looking for a great community with a family-friendly, small-town feel and great location. Newton has great parks, trails, a newly renovated public pool, a beautiful public golf course, public library, and much more. Anyone can find themselves at home in this community! Plus, if you like trains, you couldn’t find a better place to live.
North Newton
North Newton is a unique community-oriented small town dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all its residents. Government services are provided in a friendly and efficient manner, taxes are reasonable, and the physical environment is respected. Citizens are encouraged to voice their views on common issues.
Halstead
Halstead is clearly a city “on the move”. It has an active Chamber of Commerce, and community leaders are positive and energetic. Truly a city of the future, Halstead has the “livability” of a bygone era. Life in Halstead consists of a wonderful blend of small-town friendliness, safety, and “family,” while also providing access to services and amenities normally associated with communities much larger.
Hesston
Whether your visiting for the day or staying overnight, Hesston offers plenty of activities, shopping and dining options to fill your time while you’re in town.
Sedgwick
Sedgwick was incorporated in 1872 and is located in south central Harvey County on the border with Sedgwick County. The location of Sedgwick is within a triangle formed by the cities of Hutchinson, Newton, and Wichita. This is an ideal location to attract residents who want the pleasures of small town living while being close to big city jobs. Sedgwick’s goal is to grow slowly in population so that our small-town amenities remain. Sedgwick is well-positioned to reach this goal. New housing is being developed, along with offering 2 industrial parks and a local school, USD 439. The schools and city work together and have set their sights on these same goals.
Hillsboro
Hillsboro is a progressive Kansas community located at the thresholds of the Marion Reservoir and the beautiful Flint Hills. Hillsboro residents enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere, schools that are among the best in the state, and a thriving business community. Hillsboro features plenty of opportunities for work, play and a great quality of life. State Highways 56 and 15 intersect Hillsboro to provide less than an hour’s drive to Wichita to the south, Salina to the north, Hutchinson to the west and Emporia to the east, giving residents and visitors a quiet small-town atmosphere with access to all the amenities of larger cities.
Moundridge
Moundridge, centrally located in the state of Kansas, is as close or as far away as you wish to be. Situated in the “Golden Triangle” formed by Wichita, Salina and Hutchinson, Moundridge has the essential ingredients for industrial growth. An industrious work force, convenient industrial sites, adjacent airport facilities, daily truck, rail, and UPS service, abundant water, electrical and municipally-owned utilities are in this community that plans for and encourages further industrial development.
Burrton
People are what make our City the incredible place it is. We are a diverse group of individuals with a wide array of backgrounds, experiences, interests, and necessities. But we all have one thing in common: we proudly call the City of Burrton home.
Goessel
Goessel is a small rural town with a population of approximately 550 people located in Marion County. We are most known for our annual Threshing Days Event held annually in August that boasts an hour-long parade! We strive to provide our residents and guests with a welcoming smile and friendly atmosphere. From highly-rated schools to our own museum and grocery store, we are that perfect small town that’s just the right distance from larger cities. Whether you are just passing through or coming here to live, there is something for everyone. We may be a small town but we have big hearts and this is home!
Harvey County
We are seven cities, 15 townships and hundreds of friendly faces. Welcome to Harvey County, a locale that can pair big-city amenities with small-town relaxation.
From annual events such as Old Settlers in Halstead to the Kansas State High School Activities Association 8-Man Football championships in Newton, and from an abundance of parks and museums, Harvey County has plenty to offer visitors and residents alike.
Peabody
There is simply no place like Peabody, Kansas. Nestled at the foot of the flint hills, Peabody is Rockwell’s vision come to life. From the stunning late Victorian architecture in the central business district, to the immaculate public parks, Peabody has something for everyone. To put it simply…Peabody just feels like home!
