Sand Creek Summer Daze Festival wants YOU — yes, you, ice cream fanatic — to take the stage at The Great Brain Freeze coming June 20th, 2026!

We’re calling on fearless frozen treat freaks who are ready to go head-to-head in the ultimate showdown of sugar, speed, and style.

Two Ways to Enter:

1. 🍨 Solo Showdown – Step up as a wild, wacky, ice cream-devouring character. Dress for glory, bring the energy, and scarf down cups until your brain cries hot fudge. One champion takes it all!

2. 🍦 Tag Team Meltdown – Assemble a three-person squad, suit up in themed team regalia, and dominate the bowl as a frozen force of nature.

Oh, we did now. Cash and gift card rewards await — and the exact loot will be revealed in Spring 2026!

But here’s the twist…

You won’t just be eating for fun — in the solo showdown you’ll be facing off against the undefeated, undisputed, three-time champion of chill…  The Dairy Destroyer. The Queen of Cold. The Monarch of Meltdown. Madame Brainfreeze herself — Connie Wallace!
She’s got the costume, the fans, and the iron-stomached will to win. And she’s waiting for her next victim.

Think you’ve got what it takes to dethrone her? Then bring your fans, bring your flair, and bring your appetite!

Solo Showdown 

• Four to six participants

• Participants must have a competitor nickname much like a WWE character and must be costumed as such

• Nothing must be consumed other than supplied ice cream during the contest

• Each participant will be given 20 - 18oz ice cream cups

• Winners decided by volume of ice cream consumed in 5 minutes 

• Remaining ice cream in cup must be weighed in case of ties

• Ice cream cannot be touched or manipulated by eaters prior to start

• Ice cream lids can not be removed prior start

• Participants cannot drink or consume anything while eating

• Participant must finish cup  AND be tapped on the shoulder by the judge prior to starting another

• Any ice cream that passes the lips into the mouth must stay in the mouth

• Ice cream cannot be diluted or have liquids poured on

• Ice cream must be eaten with one supplied wooden spoon (extra spoons will be given to each participant)

• Any "reversal" (you know what we mean by this EEWWWW!) during The Great Brain Freeze will result in immediate disqualification

• After the 5 minutes of The Great Brain Freeze time ending, a 30 second “Chipmunking Rule” is enforced where any ice cream that remains in the mouth must be cleared (eaten) in 30 seconds without using hands to clear it

• Participant must show an empty mouth at the 30 second mark (or prior).

• If Ice Cream remains in the mouth, a penalty will be assessed (additional ounce added)

• After the The Great Brain Freeze is over, a 2 minute “No Reversal Rule” is enforced (concurrent with the Chipmunking Rule) where any ice cream that is eaten must remain “down” for 2 minutes after the Eating Championship is over

• If you are going to “reverse” step away, use the provided bag and get out of everyone’s view

• Be respectful of other participants and remain in your own eating area

• If you are feeling sick, slow down or stop

• If you catch someone cheating, please stay calm

• All judges’ decisions are final

• Win AND lose, graciously

Tag Team Meltdown 

• Same rules as Solo Showdown apply except ones listed below

• Three teams of three participants

• Three six foot tables will sit teams of three

• Participant #1 will sit on the left side (to the audience) of the table

• First two participants get 1:30  minutes and the final participant gets 2:00 minutes

• Total event is five minutes

• At the notification of the two minutes expiring, a verbal "GO" will be yelled.

• The “Chipmunking Rule” then applies to all the previous team members.

• There will be two judges per table to help with “Chipmunking Rule” rule
